A death investigation in east Regina has turned into a homicide investigation.

The Regina Police Service responded to a report an injured male was found at a home in the 1400 block of Rupert Street on July 27.

When officers arrived, they found a 19-year-old male who was the victim of a gunshot wound. Despite life saving attempts by Police and EMS, the male was pronounced dead on the scene.

A 16-year-old male who can’t be named under the youth criminal justice act, was charged with second degree murder.

The youth made his first court appearance in Regina provincial youth court this morning.
