The Saskatoon Police Service has charged a man with sexual assault and assault with a weapon after an investigation into a historical assault with faith-based affiliations.
Police say that in 2022, a report was made to them regarding allegations of sexual assault and assault occurring historically.
The victim and accused were known to one another through their affiliation with the Saskatoon faith-based institution.
As a result of the investigation, the SPS charged a 74-year-old Saskatoon man.
On social media, one of the former students of Legacy Christian Academy identified the man as the former school director and vice-principal.
He turned himself into the SPS on July 25 and is expected to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on August 21.
