The Regina Police Service says that one person has died from a suspected overdose at the City Hall tent encampment this morning.
Shortly before 5:45 a.m., police were called to a report of an overdose. When police arrived, EMS was on the scene with a deceased adult female.
Police said they are working with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service to determine the exact cause of death.
The death is one of three suspected overdose deaths in Regina since yesterday morning.
The RPS said they are preparing further information related to the recent overdoses in the city.
The City of Regina issued a statement extending their condolences.
“The City of Regina extends condolences to those who knew and loved the individual who tragically lost her life last night in the encampment,” the statement read. “As the Police investigation continues, inquiries regarding this matter can be directed to the Regina Police Service.”
