The Saskatchewan government has released the latest Clubroot distribution map, outlining the RM’s where clubroot has been found.

The soil-borne disease can cause significant yield losses in susceptible crops like canola and when environmental conditions are favourable.

Key to reducing yield losses include crop rotation, resistant varieties and sanitation practices.

Last year, over 500 fields were inspected in Saskatchewan.

Officials found visible clubroot symptoms in two more commercial canola fields and the clubroot pathogen in four new fields.

To date, visible clubroot symptoms have been confirmed in 82 commercial fields while the pathogen has been detected in 42 fields with no visible symptoms.

All producers with visible symptoms have been notified but the specific land locations are kept confidential to protect farmers privacy.

The clubroot map shows affected RM’s south and northwest and northeast of Saskatoon, northeast of Yorkton, and a couple of RM’s west of Swift Current.
