The CFL has touched down in Atlantic Canada – and the community of Wolfville Nova Scotia will be hosting the big game at their Acadia University’s Raymond Field.

The Mayor of Wolfville Wendy Donovan says an armada of busses is ready to take fans to the game from Halifax.

“we have about 30 busses ready to take fans to the games. Our staff have all their responsibilities in place. Our responsibility is really centered around traffic and policing”

Mayor Donovan says the town of Wolfville is always buzzing – but it is getting busier in downtown.

“A lot of the festivities are taking place in Halifax  – in fact it’s a bit of a fluke that the game is happening here. Originally it was supposed to take place in Halifax at St. Mary’s university – but their stadium is under construction.”

Donovan says that in the next 24 hours the population of Wolfville will double as fans from Toronto and Saskatchewan descend.

“There is a lot of energy in the community. Many of the residents did grocery shopping and got gas yesterday, there is a little apprehension about all the traffic”

In 2016 Wolfville was part of Roger’s Hometown Hockey, but the community hasn’t seen seen an event of that magnitude since. Mayor Donovan says this Touchdown Atlantic game will be quite a bit bigger than any event they have seen before.

When asked who she was cheering for in the big game – she had this to say.

“The Rider’s wear green, and since my last name is Donovan and I am of Irish descent – I have to cheer for the team that wears green – so Go Riders!”
