There were several starts and stops, but the new collective bargaining agreement between the CFL and its players has been approved by the leagues board of governors.
The last one expired just before the start of training camp. A new deal was negotiated, and accepted by the CFLPA’s bargaining team, who recomended players accept the deal.
They did not.
It was defeated in a vote, and a frenzy of negotiations began while the players were still in camp.
A new deal was reached, and voted on by the players who accepted it.
The deal carried a bigger signing bonus for the players, and allows the league to adjust the Canadian ratio.
With the board of governors giving its blessing, the league is set for labour peace for several years.
