CO-OP Community Space Program helping out local groups

A million dollars will be available for non profit groups across Western Canada for capital projects thanks to the CO-OP Community Space Program.

Between $25,000 and $150,000 will be made available for each project.

Megan Dunn from Sherwood CO-OP says the program provides a helping hand for local groups on a variety of projects.

Some of the projects that the program has provided funding for include The Heritage Community Association’s food education centre, Lakeview Community Association’s pump track, Grow Regina’s Community Garden gazebo.

The amount of dollars that is dispersed among Western Canada are dependent of the number of applicants from each province. Dunn noted that Saskatchewan usually has highest number of applicants.

Since its launch in 2015, the CO-OP Community Space Program has provided $10.5 million for 147 different projects.

The deadline to apply for the program is March 1.
