Regina Police charge 78-year-old man with murder of brother in relation to 23-year-old missing person case

A 78-year-old man is facing charges including first degree murder in relation to a 23-year-old missing persons case.

Regina Police say then 53-year-old Patrick Thauberger was reported missing on September 16th 1997.

Police say multiple investigation strategies were undertaken that led to the arrest of his brother, 78-year-old Joseph Thauberger on Sunday.

Thauberger, has been charged with first degree murder and committing an indignity to a dead human body.

He was also charged with a more recent case of uttering threats.

The accused made his first court appearance on Monday.

Police say the family has been notified of Patrick Thauberger’s death.
