One man arrested after two hit and runs

Regina Police Service has arrested one man involving two hit and runs yesterday.

Thirty-three-year-old Jonas Bellegarde of Muscowpetung First Nation was charged with the dangerous operation causing bodily harm and failure to stop after an accident.

At 8:00 pm yesterday, police were dispatched to the 400 block of Lorne Street to the report of a hit and run involving a pickup truck. Roughly one minute later, a second collision was reported at Albert Street and 4th Avenue North.

Police arrived on the scene of the second collision, and after speaking with witnesses, officers determined the driver of the vehicle had struck a parked SUV in the parking lot of a business there.

Four occupants were in the vehicle; one was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Bellegarde sustained a lower-body injury due to the collision and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Bellegarde will make his first appearance in Provincial Court next year.
