The co-owner of an iconic Regina diner has passed away.

Peg Leippi, the co-owner of Peg’s Kitchen, died last Friday.

A family member posted the news on the Peg’s Kitchen Facebook page Saturday afternoon.

“At 9:38pm on Friday, December 17 heaven gained an angel,” the post read. “It is with deep sadness for us to announce that Peg, our fearless leader, friend, mother and wife passed away last night.”

Earlier this month on December 11, Leippi suffered serious injuries in a tragic fall that resulted from an attempt to take her own life.

Her injuries include a broken clavicle, scapula, multiple fractured and broken vertebrae in her neck and back, bruised lungs, broken pelvis and massive trauma to her lower back. Due to her neck and back traumas, doctors have advised that it will likely result in paralysis from her chest down.

It didn’t take long for the community to show what Peggy and the diner meant to them, as more than $63,000 has been donated to a Go Fund Me Page with some even sharing memories of Peg.
