Man arrested after assaulting Regina Police officer

A 31-year-old Regina man has been charged, after a police officer was assaulted early Monday morning.

Officers were called to an apartment complex just after 5:00 a.m. after a man who was described as “aggressive and distraught”, made a 9-1-1 call.

When police arrived that man came outside and began to fight officers, one member was struck several times in the process.

Believing the man may be under the influence of drugs, EMS was called and took him to hospital for precautionary reasons.

As a result Joshua Ross, has been charged with assaulting a peace officer.

The accused was released on an undertaking and will appear in court on January 26th.

Regina Police did not say of the officer who was struck by the man was injured or not.
