Johb reelected as President of Sask Federation of Labour

There will not be a change at the top of the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour as Lori Johb has been re-elected as President.

Among the accomplishments Johb has achieved since being named President include lobbying the government to create a fatalities and injury strategy to reduce the number of workers killed or injured on the job. Over the last year Johb has fought to ensure the safety of workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Johb has held the post since 2018, before becoming President, Johb was was the Vice President in 2005 and then in 2010 became the Secretary-Treasurer before assuming the President role.

Kent Peterson was elected as Secretary-Treasurer, Peterson is currently a member of CUPE and serves as Secretary-Treasurer for CUPE Saskatchewan.

Also at the convention, the SFL passed a motion to continue a call for the resignation of Sask. Health Minister Paul Merriman.

Johb says the Sask. Party’s mishandling of the pandemic has motivated workers and labour movement to do all they can to elect a worker friendly government in the next election.

For the upcoming year Johb said her top priorities would include advocate for a worker focused pandemic, a living wage and paid sick leave for workers and to improve Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety Legislation to ensure protection for for contract workers.
