The Prince Albert Fire Department says the wildfire earlier this month, northeast of the city, that caused a few people to evacuate was caused by a lightning strike.

In a statement, the department says “all other possible causes have been excluded”.

The fire, which also resulted in thousands in northern Saskatchewan losing power because of lines that were damaged, started May 17 and was contained May 20.
