Brainiacs at the University of Waterloo whipped up a fancy mathematical model and discovered that men and women might need to eat totally different breakfasts to get their metabolism firing on all cylinders. Here’s the scoop: Guys? You’re gonna want to load up on the carbs—think oats, grains, all that good stuff. Meanwhile, ladies, you’re better off going for something higher in fats like omelettes, avocados… and yeah, you can still throw some bacon in there.
One of the masterminds behind this study, Anita Layton, says women burn more fat while fasting—so, like, while you’re snoozing away. Meaning your metabolism’s got some different fuel needs in the AM compared to the fellas.
