As the winter season is well underway, the Saskatchewan Snowmobile Association has announced that it’s receiving Federal funding to give our snowmobile trails some upgrades.
Through the Prairies Economic Development Canada (PrairiesCan) under the Tourism Relief Fund, the association is receiving $500,000.
The funding will be invested in the groundwork of the trails.
“It’ll be investing in the infrastructure in our system. That’s possibly new shelters being built, existing shelters being refurbished, and trail grooming equipment being upgraded or refurbished. Anything that would enhance the experience for the visitors is what you’re going to see,” says Leah Switzer, Executive Director of the Saskatchewan Snowmobile Association.
The funding will also help with trail development and signage.
“Snowmobiling is not only a great Canadian winter activity and tourism experience, it’s also a way of life for many communities across the country,” said Dan Vandal, Minister for PrairiesCan.
“Our government is supporting the Saskatchewan Snowmobile Association in further developing its trail system, so residents can take full advantage of our Winter season, attracting more visitors and growing the economy.”
As we get into the thick of winter, more and more trails are beginning to open.
