“I will never forget these incidents and the deep loss we felt”, Legislative building hosted annual Police Memorial Service

On the last Sunday of September, every year, Saskatchewan Police, RCMP, and Peace officers gather for a memorial service to honor officers who have lost their lives on the job.

The service was held at the Legislative building where differently ranked officers and RCMP as well as dozens of citizens gathered.

Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty spoke at the service along with other Saskatchewan Police Officials.

Mirasty thanked the officers in attendance and the families of the officers who have passed on. He also connected his own experience to the memorial.

“As a former police officer, I have been personally impacted by colleagues and friends being killed in the line of duty. I will never forget these incidents and the deep loss we felt,” says Mirasty.

Deputy Chief Lorilee Davis and Correctional officer Todd McLeod read the names of the Saskatchewan Honor Roll.

The event also had a wreath-laying ceremony, singing of the choir, and the police memorial march.
