The Saskatchewan Roughriders return from their bye week hoping to end a 3 game slide when they play the Elks in Edmonton on Saturday.
Each Monday Riders head coach Craig Dickenson visits with fans are on the Sports Cage and he said they are ready to get back in the win column. ” I can tell you the guy’s are hungry to get out there and play well, we feel like we have something to prove and if today’s meeting was any indication, we have a focused group” Dickenson said. Riders QB Cody Fajardo, who is bothered by an MCL injury, has come under criticism from fans and some former players for his play this season.
Coach Dickenson wants to see his starting pivot play a poised game in Edmonton ” I felt at times he looks like he has happy feet and doesn’t trust his protection.
I just want him to get back to playing a solid game, put the ball on the money, throw it away when he has to and run for some key yards when it’s needed. We feel he can do that and will starting Saturday.”
The 4-4 Riders need to win to get back some confidence and put some separation between themselves and the Elks in the West Division standings. Dickenson says there is only one way to get that done, ” this week is very important for us as a team as we need a good week of practice. Cody needs to be sharp and offence has to gel!”
