There is good news and bad news on the COVID-19 front in Saskatchewan on Monday.
The good news is the active case count now sits at 1,965 after the announcement of 178 new cases and 293 new recoveries. The active case count in Saskatchewan has not been below 2,000 since April 1 when there were 1,949.
The new cases are located in the following zones: Far North West, 7; North West, 16; North Central, 5; North East, 1; Saskatoon, 55; Central West, 1; Central East, 21; Regina, 42; South West, 8; South Central, 10; and South East, 9.
The bad news is two more people have died. One was aged 80 plus from the south-central zone with the other person in their 50’s from the southeast zone. There have been 519 deaths in Saskatchewan due to COVID-19.
There are 142 people in hospital which is down 14 from this time one week ago. Of those 142, 27 are in the ICU.
The seven-day daily average now sits at 195. On May 1, that number stood at 241.
Over 12,000 vaccines were administered on Sunday as the province went over the 600,000 mark.
Those 16 and over become eligible for vaccinations as of Tuesday morning.

The province also announced Monday that a travel advisory for the Regina area that was issued March 23 has now been lifted. That advisory recommended against non-essential travel in and out of Regina and neighbouring communities like Balgonie, Lumsden and Pense.
