Man safely in custody after barricading himself inside a Dinsmore home with weapons

RCMP say a man is in custody after barricading himself inside a residence in Dinsmore with an unspecified number of weapons.

Police initially issued a news release around 9:15 p.m. Wednesday night, saying residents of the community would notice an increased police presence while the situation was dealt with.

The incident began shortly after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

Officers say the man was making threats online, and has now been taken to hospital for a mental health assessment.

The man, who’s name and age were not released was taken into custody around midnight.

Dinsmore is about 131 km southwest of Saskatoon.
